Both fish market and restaurant, where it's possible to either shop for great fish, or enjoy delightful Mediterranean seafood meals in a central location in Milan.
What we love
In the hors d'oeuvres, we suggest you try the vast array of grilled, warm and raw antipasto dishes, among which the giant red prawns local to Mazara del Vallo or the violet variety from Sanremo; the tuna tartare with crunchy fennel and baby garden salad; and a notable octopus carpaccio with salicornia seaweed
Starters include terrific Gragnano bronze die extruded spaghetti with clams and mullet roe; homemade angel hair pasta with scoprionfish and broccoli rabe; and the delectable paccheri tube pasta with langoustines
Entrees on the menu are graced by superb grilled calamari; and a feather light fried mixed seafood platter, whose panure is made with cornmeal, rice flour and manitoba
We loved the open kitchen, located beside the icy stalls of the "market" section
The restaurant's striking and evocative ambiance, with white seating, marine life sketched on the walls and on the ceiling, luminous fishing nets studded with crystals
What to know
The seating area is in the rear, beyond the fishmonger stalls
Chef Manuel's delicate cuisine, enhanced by quality extra virgin olive oil, offers a menu that varies daily
Besides picking from the à la carte menu, it's possible to "fish" your catch directly from the market display, and have your fish then baked in either a salt crust, or grilled or cooked however way you wish
Interesting wine list, with a notable selection of Italian and international labels and vintages
Dishes are well presented, and the portions are large!
It's the chefs themselves who deliver the cooked dish to your table
